Assault on Tow Truck Driver in Kyiv Leads to Court Case
According to Прокуратура Київ: A case concerning an assault on a tow truck driver has been sent to court in Kyiv. The incident, which occurred in February 2026, resulted in severe bodily injuries to the victim. The conflict involved a 32-year-old man who works as a fitness trainer and a 49-year-old tow truck driver. This case highlights ongoing tensions in urban areas over parking and vehicle towing.
The altercation began when the owner of a Honda car demanded that his vehicle be removed from the tow truck's platform. During the argument, the man struck the tow truck driver in the head, causing him to fall, lose consciousness, and sustain a severe traumatic brain injury. The assailant then grabbed the unconscious driver by the collar, dragged him aside, and abandoned him on the asphalt in temperatures of -14.5 degrees Celsius (approximately 6 degrees Fahrenheit).
Criminal Charges Filed
The attacker's actions have been classified as intentional infliction of severe bodily injury under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and as knowingly leaving a person in a life-threatening condition without assistance under Part 1 of Article 135. The sanctions under these articles provide for a punishment of up to 8 years of imprisonment. The Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has already forwarded the indictment to the court.
This case underscores the serious consequences of violence within society. The assault not only caused grave injuries but has also sparked public outrage regarding safety in urban settings.
