Remembering Denys Richter: A Tribute to a Hero of Ukraine

According to Велика українська енциклопедія: Denys Serhiyovych Richter, posthumously awarded the title Hero of Ukraine, would have celebrated his 39th birthday on July 15, 2023. Born on July 15, 1987, in the town of Slavuta in the Khmelnytskyi region, he served as a senior sergeant in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was a participant in the Russo-Ukrainian war.

Richter was called up for military service in 2015, initially serving at the Slavuta Joint City Military Commissariat. He was later transferred to the 8th Separate Special Purpose Regiment named after Prince Iziaslav Mstyslavych, based in Khmelnytskyi. During his service, he took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine as well as the Joint Forces Operation.

Tragically, Richter was killed on May 25, 2022, in the settlement of Bilohorivka, located in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. He was laid to rest on May 27, 2022, in his hometown of Slavuta. In recognition of his bravery and service, he was posthumously granted the title Hero of Ukraine in 2023.
