Major Robert Brovdi Receives Award
According to Главком: During a frontline visit on April 1, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, presented the Cross of Merit breast badge to Major Robert Brovdi, who serves as Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces. This award ceremony was part of Syrskyi's work with the Unmanned Systems Forces grouping. The Cross of Merit is a significant military decoration in Ukraine, highlighting the strategic importance now placed on drone warfare.
Before Russia's full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, Major Robert Brovdi, also known by the call sign 'Madjar,' was a businessman in the agricultural and real estate sectors and a philanthropist from Zakarpattia. He chose to volunteer, joining the Territorial Defense forces. Brovdi fought in the liberation of the Kyiv region and founded an aerial reconnaissance unit that later evolved into a major military structure. His journey from volunteer to a major in the Armed Forces of Ukraine culminated in his role as a founder of one of the most powerful strike drone units in the country.
Significance of the Decoration
The Commander-in-Chief's Cross of Merit breast badge is awarded to military personnel and employees of the Armed Forces for outstanding service in building and developing the army, as well as for strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. The award is given for:

His distinctive style, which includes using a metal pointer to comment on strikes against enemy forces on a monitor screen and employing unique terms like 'worms' for occupiers and 'bada-boom' for explosions, has become his trademark within the military.
Commenting on the broader context of domestic drone production, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy remarked:
'If every Ukrainian homemaker can really produce drones, then every Ukrainian homemaker can be the CEO of Rheinmetall.'
This statement highlights the decentralized, innovative spirit driving Ukraine's military adaptation. The award to Major Brovdi signals the active development and integration of unmanned technologies into Ukraine's military strategy, demonstrating how specialists from civilian sectors are strengthening the army's capacity to meet the demands of modern warfare.
