In his new video address, MP Olexiy Goncharenko stated that President Volodymyr Zelensky hinted at him when talking about 'non-Ukrainian signals' regarding peace negotiations. The politician noted that after the address, accusations against him appeared in pro-Russian Telegram channels.

Goncharenko's statement on the OP's reaction

Goncharenko claims that Zelensky's comment was directed at individuals who allegedly pass on positions to partners that align with the Russian ones. In the MP's opinion, this was a hint at his criticism of the president and the course of peace discussions. He emphasizes that he promotes the idea of achieving peace as soon as possible and finds the American plan being discussed in Switzerland workable.

The politician stresses that the Ukrainian delegation is already working on amending the document and that some controversial points, according to him, have been put aside after the first round. Among the unacceptable positions, he mentions the possibility of Ukraine exiting the controlled part of Donbas.

Short points from his statements:

  • A peace treaty is needed by Ukraine no less than by its partners;
  • Some points of the US plan may be acceptable and refined;
  • Ukraine must demonstrate constructiveness to avoid accusations of disrupting the process;
  • The final decision may depend on the meeting between Zelensky and Trump.

Peace negotiations in Switzerland and context

Goncharenko believes that the US aims to form a realistic framework for negotiations but acts pragmatically. He insists that despite sharp criticism of some provisions, the plan is not 'capitulation' and contains points that Russia, in his opinion, could not propose - in particular, leaving parts of Kharkiv region and Kinburn Spit, the transfer of 50% of ZAE's electricity to Ukraine, and rapid integration into the EU.

The politician also accused the authorities of internal scandals that, in his opinion, weakened Ukraine's position in negotiations. He recalled the unaddressed initiative on excluding former OPZZ representatives from parliament and stated that some government representatives are linked to figures involved in high-profile Russian cases.

In the end, Goncharenko stated that peace is needed more by Ukraine than by anyone else, and that the country must work on acceptable terms for the treaty while not allowing Russia to shift responsibility for a possible disruption of the process onto Kyiv.

Earlier, we reported that Goncharenko proposed to re-dress the employees of the TCK and got into a scandal.
