Power Outage Schedules to Begin February 3

According to Главком: Ukraine's Energy Minister, Denys Shmyhal, has announced that hourly electricity outage schedules and power capacity limitations will be introduced across all regions of Ukraine starting February 3, 2026. This comes as Ukraine receives critical energy equipment from its international partners, with aid being distributed to operators. These measures are a direct response to the strain on the national grid following sustained attacks on infrastructure.

In the past week alone, Ukraine has received over 38 tons of energy equipment from Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Austria, and Slovakia. Nearly 342 tons of energy and technical aid have already been delivered to power grid operators, enterprises, oil and gas sector companies, and local government bodies.

Denys Shmyhal: 'International partners continue to strengthen their support in other areas as well. Just last week, we received over 38 tons of energy equipment from Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Austria, and Slovakia.'

Additional shipments are en route, including generators, transformers, cogeneration units, and other equipment from the EU, Lithuania, Austria, Poland, Finland, France, Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, as well as from UNDP and UNICEF/WASH.

State of Ukraine's Energy System

The condition of Ukraine's energy system has been restored to the level that existed prior to a major technological failure on January 31. On February 2, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported positive changes in the energy system's status, which is contributing to an improved situation in the country's energy sector.

Ukrainian energy workers are currently focused on stabilizing electricity supply for households and businesses.

The influx of energy equipment from international allies is a crucial step toward enhancing the stability of Ukraine's power grid, especially with the impending implementation of outage schedules. This ongoing support from the global community is vital for the recovery of the nation's energy infrastructure, which has been a primary target during the conflict.

Continued cooperation with partners and the procurement of necessary resources remain key factors for ensuring Ukraine's energy security in the challenging months ahead.
