Import of passenger cars to Ukraine: which cars drivers prefer

According to hvylya.net: In the first half of 2025, the volume of imports of passenger cars and other vehicles for the transportation of passengers increased by 12.5% compared to the same period last year. This is reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

During this period, the total value of imported vehicles amounted to 2.55 billion USD, which is higher than the figure for January-June 2024, when the value was 2.27 billion USD.

A significant share of the structure of vehicle imports is occupied by electric cars (31.6%), the customs clearance of which is carried out under preferential conditions: during customs clearance of these vehicles, only a symbolic excise tax is paid, and VAT is not charged in accordance with the norms of the Tax Code of Ukraine.

It should also be noted that the volume of customs benefits provided for electric cars increased by 27% compared to the previous year, amounting to 5.33 billion UAH in 2025 versus 6.75 billion UAH in 2024.

'Let us remind you that from January to July of this year, customs officers uncovered and handed over to law enforcement agencies information regarding the activities of several organized groups that used volunteer status to cover illegal vehicle imports,' the customs service reported.

To summarize: in the first half of 2025, there is a growth in the volume of imports of passenger cars and other vehicles compared to the previous year. Special attention should be paid to electric cars, which occupy a significant share in the import structure and receive customs benefits.
