In 2020, Ireland spent over 2 billion euros on the maintenance of Ukrainian refugees. This was reported by the Ukrainian ambassador to Ireland, Larysa Gerasko, who added that the state has reduced housing assistance. Previously, Ukrainians received 800 euros per month, but now this amount is 600 euros.

Despite this, refugees continue to receive free medical care and education. The attitude of the Irish towards Ukrainians in general is positive, the ambassador noted. Ukrainians are quite well integrated into the local society, according to her statement.

“Of course, there are ultra-right forces that raise an anti-immigrant wave, but this is less relevant to Ukrainians, who have a low crime rate,” Gerasko emphasized.

The ambassador also noted that some Ukrainian refugees living in hotels violate the two-week stay rules per year. However, they pay for food 10 euros a day, and the state covers the rest of the expenses.

The Ukrainian ambassador to Ireland, Larysa Gerasko, stated that in 2020, Ireland spent over 2 billion euros on the maintenance of Ukrainian refugees.
