The boy survived a Russian missile strike in Vinnytsia, in which his mother was killed.

Roman spoke about the moment when he last saw his mother, and the translator could not hold back tears. Another person came to help with the translation.

Despite severe burns and injuries, Roman Oleksiv underwent 36 surgeries and a long rehabilitation. He returned to studying, dancing, and music, and received a commendation from the President of Ukraine.

On December 10, Roman spoke in Brussels before MEPs, urging not to give up and emphasizing that together we are strong.
