Russia attacks in the fog: how the weather threatens Ukraine's defense
Russian troops use bad weather to attack Ukraine
According to glavcom.ua: Russian troops actively take advantage of bad weather conditions, such as fog and rain, to launch attacks on Ukrainian positions in various directions, including Pokrovsk, Velikomykhailivka, and Huliaipole. This information is contained in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), reported by 'Gromadske'.
Experts indicate that the attack by a mechanized battalion near Novopavlivka suggests an attempt by Russia to exploit the vulnerability of Ukrainian defense - the insufficient effectiveness of Ukrainian drones in bad weather conditions.
Changes in Ukraine's defense strategy
ISW explains that during the war, Ukraine actively used drones to protect the front. Currently, the positioning of Ukrainian troops along the line is sparse, complicating the attempts of Russian troops to break through.
Analysts emphasize the importance of supplying traditional systems to create a comprehensive defense system that does not rely on a single type of weapon.
Oleksandr Syrskyi: 'The Russian Federation has concentrated more than 100,000 servicemen near Pokrovsk, making the city a primary target of its winter campaign.'
Ukrainian forces are working to hold their flanks as Russia attempts to advance in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad area. Even if the city is captured, it will not be a strategic turning point in the conflict.
The change in weather conditions on the front is being exploited by Russian troops to conduct attacks on Ukrainian positions, but Ukraine is seeking new defense strategies, including a comprehensive defense system and the use of various types of weapons to protect its territory.
