Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of prisoners. According to the agreement, Israeli forces will partially withdraw from 53% of the Gaza Strip within 24 hours, while Hamas will release hostages within the next 72 hours.
The release of more than 20 hostages is scheduled for Monday
As part of the agreement, Israel will also release 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences and over 1700 individuals detained since October 7, 2023. Humanitarian aid for Gaza will increase and be distributed through the UN and other international organizations.
The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas will become official once both parties fulfill their obligations. This could open the door for further negotiations and de-escalation in the region.
