Canada Tops the Ranking of Countries for Moving: Top 10 by Queries
For those dreaming of moving abroad, a list of the world’s most desirable countries for relocation has recently been published. People may change their residence for various reasons: whether due to the weather, for savings, or simply to experience a new culture.
Experts from 1st Move International have prepared a list of countries that topped the rankings of the most desirable places to move. An analysis of global Google search data showed that this year Canada was searched the most – an incredible 269,220 times. Therefore, the top 10 most desired countries for moving in 2025 looks as follows:

- Australia (207,900 searches)
- Ireland (179,400 searches)
- New Zealand (177,700 searches)
- Japan (172,880 searches)
- Portugal (170,030 searches)
- Costa Rica (127,880 searches)
- Spain (127,670 searches)
- The Netherlands (127,100 searches)
- Thailand (126,960 searches)
The research also showed that the USA is the most popular destination for British expatriates. Managing Director Mike Harvey shared his thoughts on this trend and highlighted the appeal of certain countries.
Forecasting relocations in 2026, we expect that many of the world’s most popular places to move will remain very popular
, he stated. Harvey also noted that in addition to large countries, smaller countries that offer a tranquil lifestyle, like Cyprus and New Zealand, are attracting more attention.
The research outlined the list of the most desirable countries for moving in 2025, where factors may include weather, economic opportunities, or the desire to learn about new cultures. Canada topped the list, ahead of countries like Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. Other countries in the top 10 also included Japan, Portugal, Costa Rica, Spain, the Netherlands, and Thailand. More people are choosing smaller countries with a peaceful way of life, such as Cyprus and New Zealand.
