Drone Wing from Iranian Shahed Found in Kyiv Trash Bin
Enemy Drone Debris Discovered in Kyiv
According to Главком: Residents of Kyiv stumbled upon a piece of a hostile drone in a garbage container near a residential building. The fragment, a wing from a Geran-2 kamikaze drone, still bore markings used by Russian occupation forces. Under this designation, Russia launches Iranian-made Shahed-type unmanned aerial vehicles. The specific district where the discovery took place has not been disclosed, according to Ukrainian media outlet Glavcom, citing local social media channels.
Mariya Berlinska, head of the Aerospace Reconnaissance Support Center and the Victory Drones tech project, warned that drone terror from Russia is only set to intensify. She stated,
'Russia’s drone terror will only grow over time.' Mariya Berlinska
Countermeasures and Safety Precautions
In response to such threats, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have started using a new domestically produced laser trainer for operators of FIM-92 Stinger man-portable air-defense systems. This simulator is designed to help personnel counter Russian strike drones, particularly Shahed-type kamikaze UAVs.
Experts urge the public to exercise extreme caution if they encounter similar debris:
- Do not approach, touch, or attempt to move the fragments;
- Do not pick them up, bring them home, or dispose of them in regular trash bins;
- Keep children away from the area.
If dangerous items are found, people should immediately call the police hotline at 102 or emergency services at 101.
The discovery of enemy drone wreckage in the capital underscores the ongoing threat posed by Russian kamikaze drones and highlights that aerial attacks remain a pressing reality in the conflict. The AFU are actively working to enhance their air defense capabilities, which could help reduce risks to civilians. As drone terror persists, public vigilance and awareness have become increasingly critical.
The recent discovery of enemy drone debris in Kyiv highlights the ongoing aerial threat, prompting discussions about the evolving tactics employed by Russian forces. In a related development, it has been revealed that Russian Shahed drones are now equipped with electronic warfare systems designed to counter Ukrainian defense measures, further complicating the situation for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
