For the Fifth Time, Kyiv Celebrates Its City Day Without Citywide Events

According to Главком: In 2023, Kyiv Day and Capital Day are being observed for the fifth consecutive year under martial law. While the city administration is not organizing any large-scale municipal events, cultural, educational, and sports institutions are hosting a variety of themed activities. Planned events include:

• the formal awarding of the 'Kyiv' art prize
• a folk art fair
• festivals
• concerts
• sports competitions
• free guided tours

At the 'Zoloti Vorota' metro station, an exhibition titled 'Unbreakable City' is ongoing, organized by students and faculty from the 'Universum' Professional College of Borys Grinchenko University. On May 31, Kyiv Day, free tours are scheduled to allow both residents and visitors to explore the city's history and culture.

Cultural and Sports Events

Cultural highlights include the 20th International Choral Art Festival-Competition 'Song Over the Dnipro' and the 'Kyiv – An Unbreakable Capital!' event in Holosiivskyi Park, which will feature workshops. On Andriyivskyi Descent, the 'Descent of Unity' gathering is planned.

The utility company noted that 'the activation of the water features on Khreshchatyk is a symbolic step to give people a bit of light, coolness, and a sense of peaceful Kyiv.'
