According to Главком: A Kyiv inspector from the Dnipro District State Administration has been exposed for soliciting and accepting a bribe to protect illegal water vending machines. Law enforcement documented that the official, for $1,500, promised to overlook automated drinking water dispensers operating without proper permits. The inspector from the Department of Urban Development and Ecology of the Dnipro District State Administration has now been formally notified of suspicion for this crime. This case highlights the persistent challenges Ukraine faces in rooting out petty corruption within its municipal services.

Authorities recorded the transfer of part of the funds, specifically $1,000. This scheme points to the inspector's systematic enrichment from illegal water sales, which had raised concerns among local residents. The investigation is ongoing under the procedural guidance of the Dnipro District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv.

Other Corruption Cases Exposed

In a separate but related crackdown, other corruption cases have recently come to light in the capital. Authorities uncovered a bribery scheme involving the director of a communal enterprise under the Kyiv City State Administration, who was implicated in a tender for purchasing educational equipment worth 8.29 million hryvnias. Furthermore, a court will hear the case of a head of a state medical institution who demanded nearly 250,000 hryvnias for an expert opinion. Additionally, police and Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) investigators exposed an official from a unit of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine for receiving unlawful benefits. These incidents collectively indicate serious, systemic corruption issues across various branches of power in the capital.
