Kyivstar Finalizes $160 Million Acquisition of Tabletki.ua: Strategic Implications
Kyivstar Acquires Tabletki.ua
According to Главком: Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar has finalized its acquisition of 100% of the Tabletki.ua service for $160 million, following approval from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. The deal was closed in February 2026, marking a significant step in the company's digital services expansion. This move highlights the growing trend of telecom operators diversifying into adjacent digital markets.
Kyivstar's path to completion involved submitting two applications to purchase Tabletki.ua, both of which were returned by the Antimonopoly Committee for revision. Permission was finally granted in late January 2026, allowing the acquisition process to conclude.
Strategic Expansion Direction
Tabletki.ua will now join the portfolio of digital services under the Kyivstar group, which already includes:
- the medical information system Helsi,
- the car-hailing service Uklon,
- the Kyivstar TV platform,
- and the My Kyivstar app.
The purchase of Tabletki.ua underscores the company's strategic focus on broadening its digital ecosystem. This acquisition is part of a clear pattern of aggressive investment by Kyivstar. In 2025, the company signed a deal to acquire the Uklon group for $155.2 million, and it is also preparing to purchase a significant stake in Comfy, Ukraine's largest consumer electronics retail chain.
These moves signal Kyivstar's ambitious plans to expand its market presence beyond traditional telecommunications. The Tabletki.ua deal, alongside its other acquisitions, points to the company's active push into the digital services market and its intent to become a leader in providing medical and transport services. This diversification strategy could significantly enhance Kyivstar's competitiveness within Ukraine's rapidly evolving telecom landscape.
