Former Defense Minister Fedorov Launches ‘Robot Army’ Initiative to Enhance Soldier Safety

Roles Designed for Humanoid Robots

The concept envisions humanoid robots performing a variety of critical military roles, such as:

• evacuating wounded personnel
• delivering ammunition
• handling mine laying and clearance
• conducting reconnaissance missions
• defending strategic positions
• engaging hostile targets

During the IT Arena event, the project team announced a call for companies and engineers specializing in robotic technologies to join the initiative. They are also seeking a CTO or Tech Lead to spearhead the Robot Army's development, highlighting the critical need for expert leadership in this innovative field.

Fedorov emphasized that bringing this vision to life requires a combination of engineering talent, military expertise, capital investment, and cutting-edge technology. He stated,

“We will invest in defense tech firms, launch our own technology projects, build R&D capabilities, collaborate closely with the military to test solutions, and rapidly scale what proves effective on the battlefield.”

He also noted the pressing challenge:

“Russia has learned to quickly replicate and mass-produce military technologies. Therefore, we must continuously develop the next technological cycle ahead of the enemy.”
