The Ethnopolitics Service completed a study regarding the signs of affiliation of the Korets Saint Trinity Women's Stavropegial Monastery of the Moscow Patriarchate with the Russian Orthodox Church, the activities of which are prohibited in Ukraine. It began back in July 2025.
Signs of Affiliation of the Monastery
According to the results of the study, a number of signs of affiliation of the monastery with the Russian Orthodox Church have been established. In particular, it has been determined that the Korets Monastery is a structural part of the Russian Orthodox Church: the monastery's statute contains provisions on subordination and inclusion in the structure of the ROC.
Furthermore, the decisions of the ROC governing bodies clearly define the canonical and organizational dependence of the monastery. The Russian Orthodox Church also appoints the head of the monastery and approves its statute.
“Based on the conclusions obtained, the DSS ordered measures to be taken to terminate the activities of the Korets Monastery, the governing center of which is located in the territory of the aggressor state, and which belongs to the legally prohibited ROC,” the message states.
According to the agency's press service, the decision was made exclusively within the framework of current Ukrainian legislation, aimed at protecting national security, constitutional order, and religious freedom for citizens.
