According to Главком: After a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis-a condition she has had since 2018-Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway has received a lung transplant. Her health took a sharp turn for the worse in early June of this year, prompting doctors to place her on the transplant waiting list. Following the successful procedure, she is expected to remain hospitalized for several weeks to recover.
Mette-Marit, 52, is married to Crown Prince Haakon, the heir to the Norwegian throne. Pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic disease that causes scarring of the lungs and makes breathing difficult. Professor Are Holm of Oslo University Hospital commented:
"Like all patients who have recently received organ transplants, the Crown Princess will stay in the hospital for another few weeks."
