Ksenia Mykhailyuk: How the Revolution of Dignity Determined the Fate of an Oncology Surgeon
Ksenia Mykhailyuk, who was an activist and medic during the Revolution of Dignity, spoke about her personal attitude towards the events that took place in Ukraine. In November 2013, when the events on EuroMaidan began, she was a medical university student and worked as a surgical nurse in a hospital.
Participation in the protests was personal for her, especially after the attacks on students fighting for their rights. She joined the medical service of the Maidan in February of the same year, where she felt the power of unity among Ukrainians for a common idea.
Help on the Frontline
After the start of the war in eastern Ukraine, Ksenia went to the city of Shchastia in the Luhansk region, where she provided assistance to wounded Ukrainian soldiers in a civilian hospital. She remained there until the front approached the city in August-September.
“The Revolution of Dignity is the realization of who I am. It is about personal responsibility for everything that happens,” emphasizes Ksenia Mykhailyuk.
Ksenia Mykhailyuk, an activist and medic, not only participated in the Revolution of Dignity and helped the wounded in eastern Ukraine, but she also emphasizes that these events helped her realize herself and her personal responsibility for what is happening in the country.
