Doctors named the most dangerous ice cream: what to pay attention to when buying

According to hvylya.net: Doctors and healthy eating experts urge Ukrainians to be careful when choosing ice cream in stores. Some types of the popular summer dessert have ingredients that can negatively affect health.

As the temperature rises, ice cream becomes one of Ukrainians' favorite treats. However, doctors warn that not all ice creams are equally good for the body.

Experts recommend avoiding ice cream with a lot of additives. 'If the ingredients list contains many unfamiliar names and the sugar and fat content is high, it is better to choose another ice cream,' the specialists emphasize.

Special attention should be paid to cheap ice cream 'made with vegetable fats'. Instead of natural dairy fats, such ice creams often use palm or coconut oil, which can be less beneficial, especially if they are hydrogenated.

Even sorbets, which seem to be a healthier alternative, can be harmful due to high sugar content and artificial components.

Doctors highlight several particularly harmful components:

Hydrogenated oils (trans fats) increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and raise 'bad' cholesterol levels.

High fructose corn syrup, which is a cheap sugar substitute, is linked to the risk of developing diabetes and obesity.

Artificial colorings and titanium dioxide can cause allergic reactions and other health problems.

Some emulsifiers and stabilizers can lead to digestive issues and inflammatory processes in the intestines.

Experts recommend looking for ice cream made according to DSTU 4733 - the Ukrainian standard for milk-based ice cream. If the packaging states DSTU 4735, this means that animal fat substitutes are used.

Ukrainian doctors and healthy eating experts warn about the risks associated with choosing certain types of ice cream. To maintain health, it is advisable to avoid products with harmful additives and choose milk-based ice cream according to the Ukrainian standard DSTU 4733.
