Massive strike on Kyiv's energy system on December 27: emergency shutdowns implemented
Situation in Kyiv's energy system
According to Главком: On December 27, the situation in Kyiv's energy system significantly worsened due to a massive strike by Russian troops on critical infrastructure. As a result of this attack, energy workers implemented emergency power outages, as stabilization shutdown schedules are currently not in effect.
An official message about the emergency situation arrived around 08:30 in the 'Kyiv Digital' application. Several serious fires have been recorded in Kyiv as a result of drones hitting residential buildings. Energy workers have already begun to eliminate the consequences of the attack, which has created additional difficulties for the normalization of energy supply.
Problems with electricity supply
Currently, residents of the capital and the region are facing problems with electricity supply, as emergency shutdowns have become necessary to ensure the stability of the energy system. The situation remains under control, but requires prompt actions from the energy workers.
This attack is part of ongoing Russian attempts to undermine Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which could lead to significant difficulties for the population during the winter period. The authorities and energy companies are actively fighting to restore electricity supply, but this requires time and resources.
The existence of emergency situations highlights the importance of cybersecurity and protection of critical infrastructure in conditions of war.
