Medical Evacuation of Soldiers to Germany

According to Міністерство Здоров'я: On the night of December 23 to 24, 2025, the team of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, together with the Medevac Ukraine program, conducted the medical evacuation of four injured soldiers to clinics in Germany. This operation has become an important stage in providing medical assistance to Ukrainian soldiers who suffered due to hostilities.

Among the evacuated soldiers was:

  • 34-year-old Igor, who suffered burns on 32% of his body;
  • 45-year-old Yuri with burns on 16%;
  • 29-year-old Yevgen, who suffered burns on 83% of his body;
  • 28-year-old S., who has burns on 40%.

One of the injured sustained an injury on December 20, 2025, highlighting the urgency of medical assistance.

Route and Medical Facilities

The evacuation route passed through Kharkiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, and Poland, where the soldiers were prepared for further treatment. The clinics in Germany where the injured were transported include:

  • BG Klinikum Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin;
  • BG Klinikum Hamburg;
  • UKSH Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein;
  • BG Klinik Tübingen.

The 'Medevac Ukraine' program has been actively functioning for over 3.5 years. During this time, it has assisted 6,273 Ukrainians. In 2025, 1,230 Ukrainians who were affected by the war underwent free treatment and rehabilitation abroad. This program is an important element of medical support for those who have sustained serious injuries during hostilities.

Numerous medical institutions and organizations participated in this operation, including:

  • State Enterprise 'UNPC EMD and MC of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine';
  • Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise 'Regional Center for Emergency Medical Assistance of the Cherkasy Region';
  • The Health Department of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration;
  • Lviv Regional Center for Emergency Medical Assistance and Disaster Medicine;
  • Artesans-ResQ;
  • The Military Medical Clinical Center of the Northern Region;
  • The burn departments of the Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise 'Medical Center of the City of Kyiv';
  • Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise 'Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital named after M. I. Pirogov';
  • EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid.

This medical evacuation emphasizes the efforts of Ukrainian medical services in wartime conditions and their readiness to provide assistance to the injured.

The medical evacuation carried out under the 'Medevac Ukraine' program is indicative of the growing need for urgent medical assistance for soldiers sustaining serious injuries during hostilities. Successful cooperation between various medical institutions and international organizations also points to the importance of coordinating efforts in the healthcare sector in wartime conditions.

These events demonstrate not only the medical but also the humanitarian aspect of supporting Ukrainian soldiers who require hospital treatment and rehabilitation abroad.
