Key Activities of the Ministry in March 2024

According to Міністерство інфраструктури: In March 2024, Ukraine's Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development continued its intensive efforts across several critical areas. These included road and logistics restoration, preparation for the upcoming heating season, housing initiatives, strategic infrastructure development, and community recovery. A significant achievement was the repair of 2.2 million square meters of road damage, with the daily pace of road works accelerating to 100,000 square meters. Furthermore, Ukraine's parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, ratified a €230 million agreement with the European Investment Bank specifically for restoring roads and border access routes.

This work proceeds against a backdrop of ongoing challenges. In January and February 2024 alone, Ukraine recorded over 60 attacks on its infrastructure. To counter these threats, 22.35 billion UAH has been allocated for the physical protection of energy facilities, with defensive works currently underway at more than 600 sites.

eRecovery Program and Other Initiatives

The government's eRecovery program has provided compensation to over 185,000 families, totaling 79.2 billion UAH. An additional 6.6 billion UAH has been earmarked for housing certificates for internally displaced persons from temporarily occupied territories. Separately, in Kyiv, 1,136 apartment buildings received 289 million UAH for energy equipment under the 'SvitloDim' (Bright Home) program.

In the port of Chornomorsk, the application process for a concession tender on terminals has concluded. A separate auction for cargo transshipment services via the Prozorro.Sale platform resulted in a 12% increase in service prices. Construction of water treatment facilities in the Mykolaiv region is now 94% complete. Also in March, under a national recovery program, 70 projects worth 1.4 billion UAH were selected for implementation across seven regions.

In Borodianka, restoration work is ongoing at 70 sites, and since the start of the year, 12 residential buildings have been repaired and put back into service. The Ministry's activities throughout March demonstrate a systematic approach to rebuilding infrastructure and improving living conditions for citizens.

The efforts of Ukraine's Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development highlight a proactive response to the immense challenges the country faces in its post-conflict recovery.

Sustained international support and funding for projects that rebuild infrastructure, improve housing, and secure energy assets are crucial, as they directly impact the country's overall stability and resilience. The successful implementation of these projects represents a vital step toward restoring Ukraine's economy and social fabric, even as the war continues.

As the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development makes strides in road and housing initiatives, it is crucial to understand the broader context of infrastructure resilience in Ukraine. Recently, the government allocated significant funds to reinforce critical infrastructure sites across the country, ensuring greater security against ongoing threats.
