The Ministry of Education will expand the list of entrance exams: what alternatives to the NMT will appear
Expansion of the list of foreign exams
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine plans to expand the list of foreign exams, the results of which will be counted instead of the national multi-subject test. This year, the possibility of admission based on the results of the Polish matura has already been tested. In 2026, further expansion of alternatives for admission is planned, which will allow applicants to have more options for obtaining higher education.
According to information from Mykola Trofymenko, if applicants address the Ministry of Education with the results of exams conducted abroad, these results will be recognized. This indicates the Ministry's readiness to adapt the admission system to modern requirements and opportunities. In particular, Trofymenko noted that companies and universities are interested in this initiative, as the laboratory base is being updated, which has a positive impact on the training of specialists.
Dual education and priority areas
Additionally, dual education is actively developing in Ukraine, allowing students to combine study with earning money starting from the second year. The priority areas for the development of higher education are defined as:
- IT sector
- Energy
- Engineering specialties
“The IT sector is a key factor for the development of the country.” - Mykola Trofymenko
Thus, the expansion of the list of entrance exams is an important step in modernizing the educational system of Ukraine.
This initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine can significantly improve access to higher education for applicants, especially those seeking to obtain an international education. In the context of globalization and changes in the labor market, the importance of integrating national education with international standards is becoming increasingly relevant. Thus, the adaptation of the educational system to modern challenges can positively influence the training of specialists that meet the needs of the country's economy.
