In Italy, the performance of Putin's singer Abdrazakov has been canceled: reaction of the minister
The Verona Philharmonic Theater canceled the performance of Russian opera singer Ildar Abdrazakov in the production of the opera 'Don Giovanni'. According to the Arena di Verona Foundation, which manages the theater, the reason for this was its propagandistic orientation.
Italian Minister of Culture Alessandro Julii stated: 'Art is always welcomed when it is a means of dialogue and peace between peoples. However, this does not apply to situations where it serves as a tool of the propaganda of a despotic power.'
The campaign against the artist's performance was launched on November 4 at the initiative of the Italian association Liberi Oltre le Illusioni. With the support of the Vice-President of the European Parliament Pina Picierno, other concerts of the artist were canceled, including one that was to take place in Caserta.
Ildar Abdrazakov supports Putin and manages a theater in occupied Crimea. His propaganda activities have led to the repeated cancellation of performances in various countries.
Ukrainian opera singer Ildar Abdrazakov has proved undesirable for performances in Italy due to his propaganda, which has caused outrage among local cultural organizations. The ban on the artist's performances in Europe complicates his career and raises awareness of the impact of political views on his reputation in the art world.
