Negotiations between Ukraine and Latvia

According to МЗС: Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiga held a meeting in Kyiv with Latvia's Foreign Minister Baiba Braze. This is already the fourth meeting between representatives of the two countries since Braze's appointment to this position.

Sybiga shared with his Latvian colleague information about the proposals from the USA regarding achieving peace that were sent to Ukraine, and about the work of Ukrainian-American negotiation groups. The role of Europe in peacekeeping processes was also discussed.

'Ukraine is ready to use any opportunities to achieve peace. We agreed on further steps and I expressed gratitude to Baiba for her advice and steadfast position,' said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The topics of intensifying pressure on Russia and the necessity of imposing a comprehensive package of sanctions by the European Union were also discussed. The parties also agreed on measures to counter the Russian tanker fleet.

Cooperation between Ukraine and Latvia

The ministers also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in defense and energy. Latvia expressed its readiness to help Ukraine with the reconstruction of its energy system.

“We greatly appreciate Latvia's support in training Ukrainian military personnel and their attentive regard for injured defenders. Thank you for your leadership in the 'Drone Coalition',” emphasized Andrii Sybiga.

Additionally, Latvia's support during wartime and in the process of infrastructure recovery was highlighted. 12 thousand drones have already been provided to Ukraine, as well as support in restoring several facilities.

During the meeting, other aspects of cooperation between the countries aimed at supporting Ukraine in the conflict conditions were also discussed. It is important to emphasize that both sides are actively working to strengthen interaction and help each other in this challenging time.
