Peace negotiations Ukraine-Russia: 90% of issues resolved, but the Kremlin insists on control over Crimea
Progress in Peace Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia
According to ХВИЛЯ: The peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia may be closer than ever. Representatives of the US administration reported significant progress in the peace negotiations, noting that 90% of disputed issues have already been resolved. Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, confirmed the Kremlin's readiness to conclude an agreement, but emphasized the importance of control over Crimea and partially occupied regions of Ukraine.
Key Issues in the Peace Negotiations
Sergey Ryabkov, who has held his position since 2008, noted that the parties are on the verge of a diplomatic solution. He emphasized that there are five key issues that Russia cannot compromise on:
- Control over Crimea
- Status of the partially occupied regions of Ukraine
- Security of military facilities
- NATO military presence in Ukraine
- Economic relations
Ryabkov also expressed concerns regarding the potential presence of NATO troops on Ukrainian territory, stating that Moscow will definitely not agree to any form of this scenario.
The full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine has been ongoing since February 2022. It is important to note that Ryabkov claimed in January 2022 that Moscow had no intention of attacking Ukraine. The situation remains tense, however, the achievements in the negotiations indicate the possibility of a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
This news suggests that international efforts for a peaceful resolution of the conflict may be gaining momentum. Progress in the negotiations could be an important step towards stabilizing the situation in the region, although there remain many uncertainties, including issues of territorial control. It is crucial to monitor the further steps of both parties and the reaction of the international community to these efforts.
