Nobel laureates call for the release of political and anti-war prisoners from prisons in Russia and Ukraine

Nobel laureates have signed an open letter demanding that the release of political and anti-war prisoners "from Russian and Ukrainian prisons" be included in the peace plan to end Russia's war against Ukraine. This information was reported by Deutsche Welle.

The letter emphasizes the need for pardons and exchanges of civilians recognized by international organizations as political prisoners, especially the sick, the elderly, women, and teenagers.

'We ask you to include in the peace agreement project a clause on pardons or the exchange of civilians recognized by international organizations as political prisoners. This should be done, first of all, for the sick, the elderly, women, and teenagers.'

The letter was signed by Ukrainian human rights activist and peace prize laureate Oleksandra Matviichuk, Russian laureate Dmitry Muratov, Belarusian writer Svetlana Alexievich, Russian human rights activist Yan Rachynsky, and others.

Earlier, peace negotiations were held in Ukraine where the most sensitive aspects of the peace settlement of the conflict were discussed. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the peace plan is already being discussed, and among the most difficult issues are territories.

Nobel laureates have called for the release of political and anti-war prisoners from Russian and Ukrainian prisons as part of the peace plan to end the war. We hope that this important step towards resolving the conflict will be taken into account by the parties and contribute to the establishment of peace in the region.
