Ukraine's international reserves reached a record 54.7 billion dollars: what does it mean

International reserves in Ukraine reached record levels
Національні резерви України досягли історичного максимуму, що відкриває нові перспективи для економічного розвитку країни.

Increase in international reserves

As of December 1, international reserves reached a record level of 54.7 billion US dollars. This is an increase of 10.6% compared to November. The reason for this increase is the inflow from international partners, which exceeded the currency sales by the National Bank and debt repayments.

  • The National Bank received 8,147.7 million US dollars, including:
  • 6,889.7 million US dollars from the EU;
  • 810.4 million US dollars from the World Bank;
  • 332.1 million US dollars from the placement of government bonds;
  • 115.5 million US dollars from the Council of Europe Development Bank.

For servicing the state debt, 493.0 million US dollars were paid, including the repayment of government bonds, debt to the European Investment Bank, and other creditors. Ukraine also paid the IMF 282.6 million US dollars.

Currency sales by the National Bank and the resilience of the currency market

The net currency sale by the National Bank amounted to 2,727.0 million US dollars, which is 3.9% less than in October. Nevertheless, the volume of international reserves is sufficient to ensure the stability of the currency market.

Ukraine continues to replenish its international reserves thanks to inflows from international partners. This allows for maintaining the stability of the currency market and ensuring the stability of the economic environment in the country.
