According to glavcom.ua: The Olympic Esports Games initiative came to an unexpected end as the joint project between the IOC and the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee was halted. As a result, organizers were forced to stop plans for the event scheduled in 2027. Despite this, the IOC and Saudi Arabia remain committed to esports ambitions and are seeking new avenues for development.
Although the partnership has ended, the International Olympic Committee has already announced plans for a new approach to organizing the Esports Olympics. This indicates that the idea of hosting Olympic games in the esports environment has not disappeared but is merely seeking new forms of implementation.
