Munich Deadlock. Lack of Strategy in the 'Crumbling House'
- 5 months for the development and scaling of a new technological unit (from drone interceptors with AI to EW systems).
-
30 days for its integration into active combat operations.
This technological flexibility, bolstered by a new aid package of 38 billion dollars, represents the only functioning tool of deterrence in Europe today. This sharply contrasts with the traditional NATO defense procurement cycles, which struggle to even produce the basic interceptors requested under the 'Pistorius formula'.
British Bridge: Funding the Gap
In this fragmented landscape, the UK is trying to play the role of a strategic bridge. Defense Secretary John Healy's announcement of a support package worth 500 million pounds, including the use of the PURL (Priority Ukraine Requirements List) mechanism, is a tactical step to circumvent European industrial sluggishness. By using British funds to directly procure PAC-3 missiles of American manufacture, London acknowledges: Europe cannot arm itself on its own at this moment.
The delivery of 1000 Martlet missiles from production lines in Belfast is a vital 'patch' for Ukrainian air defense, but it highlights a deeper truth: Europe is currently living on borrowed time - both in terms of time and ammunition.
Ball of Confused Vampires. Beyond Bayerischer Hof
By the end of the first day of MSC 2026, the metaphor of the 'crumbling house' seems painfully accurate. The old pillars of security - unconditional American support and European industrial complacency - have collapsed.
The choice facing leaders in Munich is no longer between 'war and peace', but between a 'paper peace' inviting future catastrophe and a fortified reality. The latter demands the acknowledgment that Europe’s defense is now inextricably linked to the technological and military survival of Ukraine as a permanent high-tech outpost.
If Munich-2026 fails to bridge the gap between 'Pistorius' five missiles' and the reality of continental warfare, the 'dramatic deal' that many fear may become an inevitability. In the meantime, the only thing being built in Munich is a consensus on how much has already been lost.
