World Athletics has been the scene of a major embezzlement amounting to over 1.5 million euros. This scandalous case was uncovered by the organization’s own employees and an external consultant during an annual audit conducted under the new financial leadership of the federation.

Following an internal investigation, it became clear that two employees of World Athletics and one external consultant, who had contractual obligations, were involved in the theft. One of the perpetrators fled, but the others were dismissed after their involvement was confirmed.

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe stated: 'Many organizations cover up similar incidents and dismiss criminals without revealing the whole truth. This allows fraudsters to continue their crimes in new workplaces.'

Coe emphasized the importance of identifying and punishing criminals to ensure transparency and truthful governance.
