Three-Party Meeting Announced

According to Главком: A new round of three-party talks involving Ukraine, Russia, and the United States has been scheduled for February 1. This announcement follows a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, delivered near the end of the 1433rd day of the war. The Ukrainian delegation recently returned from a series of trilateral meetings where discussions focused on military matters, steps to end the war, and the practical aspects of monitoring and control. These talks represent a critical diplomatic channel in a conflict that has drawn in global powers and reshaped European security.

The negotiations, which took place in the United Arab Emirates from January 24-26, lasted for two days. During a briefing, President Zelenskyy received a report from the Ukrainian delegation on the outcomes of their discussions with American and Russian counterparts. In his address, he noted the delegation had covered various issues of a predominantly military nature, including pathways to ending the war and establishing genuine oversight.

Hopes for a Positive Outcome

According to Zelenskyy, the upcoming meeting is planned for Sunday, February 1. He expressed hope that this session could be accelerated and that Ukraine would be thoroughly prepared to discuss crucial issues. The President emphasized that Ukraine will always stand on the side of peace, placing sole blame for the war's continuation on Russia.

He pointed to the importance of maintaining pressure on Russia to stop the war and thanked all those supporting Ukraine during this difficult period. Separately, the President stated that Ukraine would not cede the Donbas region to Russia as part of a peace deal, while underscoring the necessity of seeking compromise.

This trilateral meeting marks a significant step in the diplomatic process, aiming to find paths to end a conflict now in its fifth year. Given the complex situation on the front lines and internal political challenges, the outcome of these negotiations could substantially influence future developments in the region. Ukraine continues to seek international community support to pressure Russia within the context of peace initiatives, highlighting the considerable importance of such high-level engagements.
