A new train on the Prague-Berlin-Copenhagen route will launch next year
In 2026, a new direct railway route will start operating between Prague, Berlin, and Copenhagen, allowing for travel without transfers and long flights. The project was created by three national carriers, and its launch will be part of the development of ecological routes in Europe. This is reported by Visit Ukraine.
The new train will allow for faster and more convenient travel between the capitals than currently. Until now, direct service only existed between Prague and Berlin, and passengers had to transfer in Hamburg or make two transfers from Prague. In 2026, daytime and nighttime flights will connect the three cities without unnecessary stops and changes of transport.
New route Prague–Berlin–Copenhagen: schedule and key details
The launch is organized jointly by three state-owned companies:
-
ČD – Czech Railways;
-
DB – Deutsche Bahn from Germany;
-
DSB – Danish State Railways.
ComfortJet trains will reach speeds of up to 225 km/h and can accommodate 555 passengers. Key travel parameters include:
-
Prague–Copenhagen: approximately 11 hours, including night travel;
-
Berlin–Copenhagen: about 7 hours;
-
Two flights daily in each direction;
-
Key stops – Dresden and Hamburg.
The trains will have a restaurant car, adjustable seating, and even a small cinema. The first class will have 99 seats, providing more space and quiet during long journeys.
How much will the tickets cost
Official prices have not yet been announced, but the projected rates are as follows:
-
Standard ticket – from 75 euros;
-
Sleeping place in first class – from euros.
Experts emphasize: a night ticket offers several advantages – transport, accommodation, and arrival in the city center without additional transfers. For extensive travel, it is advisable to consider the Eurail pass costing around 300 euros. It allows for travel across more than 30 countries and freely combines routes.
Earlier, we reported that Ukrzaliznytsia presented a new schedule for 2025–2026 that will come into effect on December 14. It includes the launch of 11 new trains – of which 8 are international and 3 domestic – as well as significant improvements to existing routes.
