According to glavcom.ua: The last mine of the DTEK group 'Bilozerka' in the Donetsk region ceased operations due to a dangerous situation and problems with energy supply. The closure of the mine led to the evacuation of more than a thousand workers, who received assistance in finding employment at other company enterprises.

Details about the mine

The 'Bilozerka' mine was an important source of coal extraction for Ukrainian thermal generation for over 70 years. The high-quality coal extracted from this mine was used for electricity production. After stabilizing the situation in the region, the company plans to consider the possibility of resuming the mine's operations and has already invested over 2.9 billion hryvnias in its modernization for the first half of 2025.

In the meantime, in the occupied territories of the Luhansk region, there is a critical lack of funding, which may lead to the closure of mines. Recently, a tragedy occurred in one of the Ukrainian mines due to a pulp breakthrough, resulting in the deaths of two miners.

The closure of the 'Bilozerka' mine is a result of a dangerous security situation and problems with energy supply. The company plans to restore the mine's operations after stabilizing the situation and has already invested significant funds in its modernization.
