Pensioners and Summons: Who is Exempt from Mobilization in Ukraine
Mobilization of Pensioners in Ukraine
According to ХВИЛЯ: In Ukraine, during mobilization, pensioners are not automatically exempt from conscription, and they may receive summons if they do not meet certain criteria. The Law of Ukraine 'On Mobilization Training and Mobilization' defines the conditions for mobilization, including the maximum age for service in the Ukrainian army, which is 60 years old.
Groups of Citizens Who Do Not Receive Summons
- Citizens who are 60 years old and older;
- Pensioners with disabilities;
- Citizens with serious illnesses;
- Those who permanently care for relatives with disabilities;
- Pensioners awarded special status, with supporting documents.
It is important to note that pensioners with disabilities are exempt from conscription with official confirmation. Citizens with serious illnesses deemed unfit for service are also exempt from conscription. Those who care for relatives with disabilities have the right to exemption from mobilization. It should be noted that military pensioners can only be called up according to their specialty.
Thus, despite the fact that pensioners may receive summons, there are clear criteria under which they can be exempt from mobilization.
This information is important for understanding the legal status of pensioners in conditions of mobilization in Ukraine. Given the current military situation, the issue of mobilization and the call-up of conscripts remains relevant, and relevant changes in legislation may affect different categories of citizens. It is important that all who are subject to mobilization are aware of their rights and possible exceptions.
