According to glavcom.ua: Russian tennis player Polina Kudermetova has decided to change her sports citizenship and will now represent Uzbekistan. This is not the first time in recent years that athletes from Russia have made such decisions. For example, Anastasia Potapova will compete for the Austrian national team starting in 2026, and Kamila Rakhimova and Maria Timofeeva have also obtained citizenship of Uzbekistan and chosen this country for competitions.
It is also worth noting that the presence of Russian athletes at propaganda events, including meetings with the Russian president, violates the recommendations of international sports organizations regarding neutral athletes.
