Findings from the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology Survey

According to 5 канал: A recent survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology between September 12 and 21, 2026, reveals that 30% of Ukrainians recognize Petro Poroshenko as the leading opposition figure. Following him is Dmytro Razumkov, who garnered support from 11% of respondents as a prominent opposition leader. The survey included 1,002 adult Ukrainian citizens residing in government-controlled areas and was carried out through telephone interviews. The margin of error for results near 50% does not exceed 4.1%.

Additional insights from the survey show:

  • Serhiy Prytula ranks third with 8% backing;
  • Yulia Tymoshenko received 6% support;
  • Yuriy Boyko and Oleksiy Arestovych each were identified by 3% of participants as opposition leaders;
  • 11% of those surveyed believe Ukraine currently lacks a genuine opposition;
  • 21% of respondents were undecided on the matter.

Compared to a similar poll from February 2025, Poroshenko’s standing as opposition leader has grown from 24% to 30%, while Razumkov’s support increased from 7% to 11%. Meanwhile, the share of people who think no true opposition exists in Ukraine dropped from 16% to 11%.

Current Political Environment in Ukraine

Earlier reports from 5.UA indicated that if presidential elections were held in the latter half of September 2026, the highest support would go to Volodymyr Zelensky, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, and Petro Poroshenko. Another survey highlighted that only about 25% of Ukrainians trust the prosecution service.

The survey results highlight Poroshenko’s growing influence, suggesting a shift in Ukraine’s political landscape.

The increasing number of Ukrainians acknowledging the presence of an opposition may reflect heightened political discussions and campaign activities ahead of potential elections. This trend also offers insight into voter attitudes and their perception of political leaders against the backdrop of ongoing national challenges.

The evolving political landscape in Ukraine is further illustrated by recent polls, which suggest a significant portion of the populace is contemplating the future of President Zelensky's tenure. As discussions intensify over his potential re-election, many citizens are expressing their views on whether a limit on presidential terms is necessary. For a deeper understanding of public sentiment regarding Zelensky's presidency, you can explore how the majority of Ukrainians perceive his potential for a second term in this recent survey analysis.
