Legendary ex-Liverpool player has passed away
According to glavcom.ua: The great footballer Joey Jones has died
Former player of 'Liverpool', 'Chelsea' and the Wales national team, Joey Jones, died at the age of 71. This is reported by 'Glavkom' referring to another former player of the 'reds', John Aldridge.
'Another sad news: Joey Jones passed away last night. What a wonderful man and defender, who gave his heart and soul to the red shirt and all the clubs he played for. Our thoughts are with Joey's family. Rest in peace,' Aldridge wrote.
Jones played for 'Liverpool' from 1975 to 1978. He won two European Champions Cups, the UEFA Cup, and became the champion of England with the club.
Jones was the first Welshman to win the European Champions Cup.
The sporting world mourns the death of two outstanding athletes
As reported, Yuri Bredak (callsign 'Klevera') – a titled Ukrainian rower – was killed on the front.
Yuri died on June 23, 2025. He was a well-known athlete – a Master of Sports in rowing, a multiple prizewinner of the Ukrainian championships, representing the capital at the national and global levels.
It's worth noting that another titled Ukrainian athlete, Vitaliy Rymaruk, died on the front as well.
The 26-year-old discus thrower Vitaliy Rymaruk was the youth champion of Ukraine and a prizewinner of the adult championships. Just two years ago, Vitaliy was training and competing. He is survived by his wife and a small daughter.
Vitaliy Rymaruk served as an officer of the 1st combat group of the 4th special purpose group (airborne) of the 4th separate special forces unit for counter-terrorism 'Omega' of the National Guard of Ukraine.
The special forces soldier was killed in the Pokrovsk direction (Donetsk region).
Leading Ukrainian rower and athlete died on the front, leaving behind a family, friends, and like-minded people devastated by death. The events took place in the Donetsk region, where they participated in various sports disciplines, but they were united by a common goal – to defend their homeland from the enemy. This is a great loss for Ukrainian sports.
