Poles outraged over speech by Ukrainian ambassador: what angered them?
According to glavcom.ua: False information about the speech of the Ukrainian ambassador in Poland, Vasyl Bodnar, during the ceremony honoring the memory of the victims of the Volhynia tragedy in Chełm, was spread on social networks. Users opposed the claim that his speech was too short, but this turned out to be untrue, reports the website 'Glaicom' citing the Ukrainian embassy.
During the ceremony on July 11 in Chełm, dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the Volhynia tragedy, the ambassador and newly elected president Karol Nawrocki were present. The diplomat's speech evoked negative emotions online, but its full version actually lasted about 10 minutes. Bodnar emphasized that his words were dedicated to honoring the memory of the victims and acknowledging the truth.
«We must speak openly about this history. Of course, call a crime a crime. We must ask for forgiveness, but also honor the memory of those victims who demand it from both sides of the border,» said Ambassador Vasyl Bodnar.
