Poland’s Plan for a Drone Armada

According to Главком: Poland intends to assemble its own fleet of unmanned aerial vehicles in collaboration with Ukraine, leveraging Ukrainian technological expertise and combat experience. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this during a conference focused on preparations for Ukraine’s reconstruction, scheduled for June in Gdańsk.

The Polish initiative calls for Ukraine to play a central role in executing the drone armada program. Tusk stressed the value of Ukraine’s drone know-how, stating:

“I am very pleased to announce today that the Polish plan to create a drone armada will be a plan that will also be supported by the technical ideas and drone competencies of our Ukrainian friends.”

Poland-Ukraine Partnership

Furthermore, Tusk highlighted the significance of the partnership between Poland and Ukraine, noting:

“I want to make it very clear here in Rzeszów that Polish-Ukrainian relations and the relations between Europe and Ukraine are not about one-sided aid to a country at war. We have managed to build a partnership model in which Ukraine can also contribute something.”

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have identified a critical weakness in Russia’s air defense systems and are actively exploiting it to strike rear-area targets. Recent attacks on Sevastopol have hit Russian naval vessels and coastal infrastructure, including the Yaroslavl oil refinery. Analysts note that Russia’s air defense is struggling to cope with the volume of assaults and is losing effectiveness.

As a result, Poland’s creation of a drone armada with Ukraine’s involvement could mark a significant step forward in the military technology development of both nations, enhancing their collective defense capabilities.

The collaboration between Poland and Ukraine on the drone armada underscores the importance of international support and technology exchange in modern conflicts. Amid growing threats from Russia, this initiative could substantially strengthen the defensive posture of both countries. Moreover, Ukraine’s active participation in this effort demonstrates its ability to integrate into international defense frameworks and boost its own technological capacity.

As Poland strengthens its military capabilities through the planned drone armada with Ukraine, it is also preparing for future strategic initiatives. The upcoming Kraj strategic exercises in 2026 will further enhance the operational readiness of Polish forces, showcasing the ongoing commitment to regional security and cooperation.
