It has been reported today that Oleksandr Savov, a marine who endured captivity in Russian captivity and returned home only eight months ago, has passed away.

Life and Captivity

Oleksandr Savov served in the 36th Brigade of the Marine Corps and was held captive for more than three years. He was one of the heroes who defended Ukrainian territories at the 'Azovstal' plant.

After a long wait, he was freed in March this year during a prisoner exchange, and his daughter Anastasia joyfully received him with a flag during their meeting at the airport.

After his return, Oleksandr Savov struggled with significant health issues, including tuberculosis, skin diseases, and lymphostasis of the legs. He spoke about how severe the conditions in captivity were, often resembling true hells.

Dignity of Ukrainian Soldiers

Captivity can kill, even after liberation

Yuliya Pavliuk, the coordinator for working with prisoners of war, expressed her criticism of the health condition of Ukrainian fighters who endured captivity. Medical personnel continue to provide assistance to former prisoners who require long-term rehabilitation.

This tragedy serves as a reminder of the difficulties faced by Ukrainian defenders who escape captivity as a result of military conflicts.
