According to glavcom.ua: Formula 1 is returning to Portugal! The race organizers have confirmed that the stage in Portugal will once again be part of the World Championship calendar. A two-year agreement has been made with the Portuguese government, the tourism organization Turismo de Portugal, and promoter Parkalgar. Races will take place at the Algarve racetrack, known as Portimão. The circuit is renowned for its terrain and sharp elevation changes, drawing comparisons to 'American roller coasters.'

The return of Portugal has been made possible by the strategy of rotating European stages. Portimão will replace the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort, which will cease racing after 2026. Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium will also not host events in 2028 and 2030.

Stefano Domenicali, head of Formula 1: 'The demand for hosting a Grand Prix is at its highest in history, and the return of Portimão will satisfy the passion of the local fans.'

Portugal has a rich history in royal racing. Legends of motorsport such as Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell, and Ayrton Senna have triumphed on Portuguese tracks. Since 2020, Portimão has hosted Formula 1 as a reserve location during the pandemic.

Ferrari driver Lewis Hamilton has expressed his eagerness to complete the season. After the worst year of his career, finishing only sixth, Hamilton can’t wait to leave Abu Dhabi.

Overall, the return of Formula 1 to Portugal has sparked great interest among motorsport enthusiasts, especially local fans who eagerly await this event. The two-year agreement will open new opportunities for drivers and add a new chapter to the history of racing competitions.
