The blaze, reported on February 22 at 2:02 PM on Olexandra Lazarevskoho Street, broke out in a third-floor apartment of a five-story building, covering an area of 20 square meters. Firefighters had the situation under control by 2:57 PM, and law enforcement officials are now working to determine the cause. This incident highlights the critical work of emergency services in densely populated urban areas.

Alarming Fire Statistics Across Ukraine

National fire data presents a sobering picture. Since the start of the current heating season, fires have claimed 848 lives and injured 783 people, including 93 children. A total of 10,578 fires have occurred in residential buildings and structures during this period. The leading causes are clear: over 3,500 fires were due to violations of electrical safety rules, more than 3,000 resulted from improper installation or use of heating stoves, and over 2,500 were caused by careless handling of fire.

In related incidents, police in the Kyiv region are investigating a fire in the Bucha district that resulted in the death of a 79-year-old woman, preliminarily linked to a faulty heating stove. Additionally, a fire erupted in a Kyiv beauty salon in the Pechersk district when a generator installed inside the premises caught fire. Firefighters noted that efforts to extinguish the apartment fire in the Dnipro district were hampered by severe clutter within the home.
