Kharkiv Prepares for the Harshest Winter: The Mayor Talks About the Destruction of the Energy System
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov warned of the harshest winter for the city due to difficulties in energy supply caused by the war. Among the enemy attacks, two transformer substations have already been destroyed, leading to significant complications in the operation of Kharkivoblenergo's network. This may result in challenges with electricity supply as early as this upcoming winter.
'In recent days, the enemy has destroyed two transformer substations that supplied our city. This is a serious blow to the capacities of 'Kharkivoblenergo'. And, considering the dynamics of the attacks, it is already clear that the coming winter will be the hardest for Kharkiv in all the years of the war,' Terekhov wrote.
The mayor also noted that thanks to the steadfast work of energy workers and public utilities, whose goal is to ensure stable electricity supply and utility services for Kharkiv residents, the number of subscribers without electricity has decreased from 22,000 to 3,500. Terekhov urged the residents to be prepared for any eventualities, as threats from Russia remain high at present.
During the off-season, American batteries were installed to help avoid power outages and supply light and heat to homes during shelling. This action is intended to ensure the reliability of the energy supply and maintain comfort for the city's residents amid the war.
In the harsh conditions of war, the city of Kharkiv needs to be ready for possible problems with energy supply; however, thanks to the work of energy workers and the efforts of local authorities, the necessary measures have already been taken in the city to ensure residents have electricity and utility services.
