The adopted son of the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine posthumously received the Order of the 'Cross of the Hero'
Posthumously awarded a heroic honor
The adopted son of the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Matityahu (Anton) Somborsky was posthumously awarded the 'Cross of the Hero' Order. This was reported by the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Asman on his Facebook page.
'My son Moti (Anton), who died defending Ukraine, was awarded posthumously - the Hero's Order! A representative of his 46th brigade reported that Moti showed true heroism, standing alone against the enemy at his position to protect his comrades and important military equipment,' the message states.
Pride and sorrow
The Chief Rabbi of Ukraine added: 'For me, this is a great pride, though with tears, and an honor that I could raise a true Hero, and pride not only for the Jewish people! Eternal memory!'.
According to information from September 3, 2024, the adopted son of the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine Moshe Reuven Asman died at the front while defending Ukraine. The rabbi noted that the young man had lived in his family for about 10 years, but when he grew up, he chose an independent path in life.
At the farewell to Matityahu (Anton) Somborsky, which took place on September 12, 2024, at the Central synagogue of Kyiv, close ones, friends, and like-minded individuals of the fallen hero, who gave his life for the peace and independence of the country were present.
