Changes in mobilization rules in Ukraine

The age for mobilization remains within 25-60 years for men. Young people aged 18 to 24 have the opportunity to serve voluntarily under a contract or after basic military training.

Initiatives to lower the mobilization age to 18-20 years are still under discussion among deputies and have not yet been approved by the committee of the Verkhovna Rada.

Contract service for youth

Young citizens aged 18-24 can join the contract service program with various bonuses, including a salary of up to 120,000 hryvnias per month, one-time payments, and housing compensation.

Mandatory basic military training

Starting September 1, 2025, mandatory basic military training will be introduced for young men aged 18-25. The duration of training during wartime is up to 3 months, and in peacetime - up to 5 months.

Mobilization of women remains voluntary, and until 2026, mandatory inclusion of women with medical or pharmaceutical education in military registration is not planned.

Conditions for deferment and reservation

The possibility to obtain a deferment or reservation before military conscription is available for various categories of citizens, including single parents, students, and workers in certain sectors.

Restrictions on travel abroad

All men aged 18 to 60 must have a military accounting document to leave Ukraine. The possibility of leaving exists only for certain categories, for example, those with reservation or parents of three or more children.

For men over 50 who are mobilized, special rules apply. They can be called up for service by specialty and are not sent to assault positions.

Opportunities for men over 60

Men over 60 can enter into a contract for military service for one year for non-combat positions.

It should be noted that the main condition for canceling the fine from the TCK was defined by a lawyer.
