Ukraine Launches 'LightHome' Initiative to Fund Generators for Apartment Buildings

High-rise buildings will receive up to 300 thousand for generators
В Україні розпочали програму 'Світло для дому' для фінансування генераторів у житлових будинках.

'LightHome' Program Launches

According to Главком: Ukraine has initiated the 'LightHome' program, designed to provide funding for multi-apartment buildings to purchase autonomous power equipment. Eligible residential buildings can receive grants ranging from 100,000 to 300,000 hryvnias to acquire the necessary gear.

Funds allocated for buying generators, batteries, inverters, and solar panels will be transferred within 48 hours of a decision being made. The amount of support depends on the number of floors and entrances in the building. Applications for financing can be submitted online via the 'Diia' platform. Eligible participants include homeowner associations and building management companies.

'Everything is online. No paperwork or queues. With clear deadlines for decision-making,' emphasized Oleksiy Kuleba, Ukraine's Minister for Communities and Territories Development.

The program is launching in its first phase for Kyiv and the Kyiv region. A government hotline, 1545, is operational for consultations. As part of the initiative, the Cabinet of Ministers has also approved an additional package of measures to support citizens and businesses facing limited power supply.

The Importance of the 'LightHome' Program

The launch of 'LightHome' aims to support multi-apartment buildings during prolonged electricity outages, a situation that has become particularly critical under current conditions. This initiative is a direct response to the severe strain on Ukraine's energy infrastructure due to ongoing conflict.

'LightHome' represents a significant step toward ensuring the energy independence of residential buildings, which is especially vital during wartime and energy crises. It will allow apartment owners not only to receive financial support for improving living conditions but also to guarantee a more stable power supply for their homes. Furthermore, the program could help reduce the load on the centralized energy grid by covering a portion of consumption through autonomous power sources.
