Drones Render Russia's Mass Mobilization Ineffective, Says Defense Ministry Advisor

Defense Ministry advisor: mass mobilization in Russia ineffective due to drones
Дрони роблять неефективною мобілізацію Росії, стверджує радник Міністерства оборони.

Why Mobilization Strategies Must Evolve

According to ХВИЛЯ: On April 30, Ukrainian Defense Ministry Advisor Serhiy Beskrestnov argued that large-scale mobilization in Russia has become ineffective due to the changing nature of warfare and the dominance of unmanned aerial vehicles. He emphasized that modern combat can no longer be decided by sheer manpower alone.

According to Beskrestnov,

“any tank or vehicle will not survive more than an hour on the battlefield”

because drones will destroy them. He also noted that assaults using armored vehicles have become rare, and Ukrainian drone units are failing to meet their targets for enemy elimination-not due to a lack of equipment, but because of a shortage of enemy forces.

“We have drones, but not enough enemies,”

the advisor stated.

Modern Challenges for Mass Conscription

Beskrestnov further explained that mass infantry mobilization is not being carried out because it cannot quickly change the situation on the ground.

“If mass infantry mobilization could radically and swiftly alter the course of events, it would have been implemented long ago,”

he added. The era when victory depended on troop numbers has ended, and while a new wave of mobilization in Russia could create challenges for Ukraine, it would not solve Moscow's broader military objectives.

These remarks highlight a fundamental shift in military strategy driven by technological advancements, particularly drones, which are reshaping the battlefield. In modern conflicts where cutting-edge technology prevails, traditional mobilization methods may prove obsolete, raising questions about their continued use by Russia. Beskrestnov's comments suggest potential adjustments in Russian military policy as it confronts these new realities.

As the dynamics of warfare evolve, the implications of such technological advancements are becoming increasingly evident. In a related incident, an assassination attempt on a Ukrainian defense official was thwarted, highlighting the ongoing threats faced by military personnel amid these changing strategies. Understanding the interplay of these events can provide deeper insights into the current conflict landscape.
