Repair of public roads will begin as soon as the weather warms up

In Ukraine, the current repair of public roads will start immediately after the weather conditions stabilize. The relevant instructions have already been given to the responsible authorities. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.

Repair of public roads 2026: when will the work begin

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko instructed the Vice Prime Minister for the Recovery of Ukraine, Oleksiy Kuleba, together with the State Agency for Recovery, to ensure full readiness for current repairs.

This primarily concerns strategically important routes that:

• provide logistics for defense needs;

• guarantee the livelihoods of communities;

• support the functioning of critical infrastructure.

Work is expected to start immediately as soon as the weather allows.

Funding for highways: what the budget provides

The state budget for 2026 includes expenditures for the repair of public roads. At the same time, the government is working to attract additional resources to enhance funding.

Preparatory measures must be completed before the start of the active road work season. Thus, the authorities aim to minimize downtimes and promptly restore key transport arteries after the winter period.

The initiative aims to support defense logistics and the stable functioning of the economy under martial law.
